Inspiring the world to dance

RAD Global Headquarters Opening in 2022

We are the RAD

We are the Royal Academy of Dance, a world leader in dance education and training. We’ve been teaching the world to dance for over 100 years and believe passionately in its power to transform lives for the better. Through an international network of teachers, we support and connect a global community of more than 400,000 students, and dancers of all ages and abilities, in more than 80 countries.

Most of all: we are a not-for-profit organisation.

Supporting our community

Dance and movement are fundamental to our well-being, allowing us to express ourselves. And while we may not all aspire to be professional dancers, they give us great joy. We have ambitious plans for the future with our new building offering more space and facilities to widen access and participation.

Our home of dance

Our building provides us with enhanced education and training facilities for our students and teachers. These include seven brand new studios, five meeting rooms, an amazing performance space, a library and archive, as well as a large reception area, plenty of changing rooms and restrooms, a shop and a café. All are available to hire for training, performances, and corporate events.

RAD headquarters wins RIBA London Award 2024

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) awards recognise the capital’s best new architect-designed projects. Our inviting and inclusive space has been recognised for its impact on the local community within London.

Each day our building welcomes people from around the world who take RAD exams and classes, attending events or visiting the headquarters for a tour. We are delighted to see our building gain this recognition.

Support us

The RAD is an independent educational charity and does not receive regular government funding. Every penny we make goes back into the work we do: we empower people through dance education and enjoyment. By hosting your next event at the RAD, you are giving your contribute towards these goals.

That's right! Hiring our venue and event management services means supporting our activity as a charity. You can also support us through our ‘Name A Seat campaign or by making a donation.
